NSE’s indices sustain sliding profile, down by N24b

Equity transactions on the Nigerian Stock Exchange continued on a downward note yesterday, as major highly capitalised stocks depreciated in price, resulting to a further slide in market capitalisation by N24 billion.

Specifically, at the close of trading yesterday, market capitalisation slides by N24 billion to N9.284 trillion from N9.308 trillion  recorded the previous day.

Also the NSE All Share index down by 69.26 basis points to 27034.05 points from 27103.31 points traded on Monday. Nigerian Breweries topped the losers chart with N3.03 kobo to close at M128.00 per share. Glaxosmith Kline trailed with a loss of N1.77 kobo to close at N16.44 per share. Cadbury Nigeria Plc shed N0.65 kobo to close at N17.35 per share.

Guaranty Trust Bank declined by N0.50 kobo to close at N18.51 per share. Ecobank Transnational Incorporated fell by N0.35 kobo to close at N17.20 per share. UACN lost 0.29 kobo to close at N19.50 per share.

Eternaoil shed 0.15 kobo to close at N2.85 per share. Unity Bank dropped 0.10 kobo to close at N1.03 per share. First City Monument Bank depreciated by 0.09 kobo to close at N1.5 6 per share. TransNational Express also dropped 0.08 kobo to close at N1.57 per share.

On the contrary, Total Nigeria Plc led gainers table for the day, increasing by N5.37 kobo to close at N179.00, Lafarge Wapco followed with a gain of N2.38 kobo to close at N78.88 kobo.

Stanbic IBTC gained N0.70 kobo to close at N15.89 kobo, Union Dicon Salt increased by N0.62 kobo to close at N15.00, International Breweries appreciated by N0.40 kobo to close at N19.90 kobo.

Dangote cement added 0.20 kobo to close at N164.00 per share. African Prudential gained 0.10 kobo to close at N3.12 per share. Champion Breweries added 0.08 kobo to close at N2.95 per share. UAC-Properties appreciated by 0.07 kobo to close at 4.09 per share.

Investors for the day exchanged 170.686 million shares worth N2.424 billion in 3153 deals against a turnover of 152.329 million shares worth N2.290 billion exchanged hands  the previous day in 3406 deals.                               
   
‎​Further analysis of the transactions showed that GTBank of the banking subsector led the activities in volume terms, trading 33.557 million shares worth N630.958 million, FCMB group followed with account of 18.421 million shares valued at N28.708 million.

NEM Insurance sold 12.678 million shares worth N15.412 million, United Bank for Africa traded 13.190 million shares cost N57.235 million and Access Bank exchanged 12.510 million shares worth N72.164 million.
