Settles 596 death beneficiaries with over N2.5b
The Federal Government has captured 390,676 civil service employees on the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS) platform across 558 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) as at January 2021, said Head of Service (HOS) Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan.
She made the disclosure, yesterday, at a media briefing to commemorate the 2021 Nigeria Civil Service Week in Abuja.
The HOS explained further that the figure excludes the army, paramilitary organisations, police and universities, stressing that several activities have been initiated and carried out towards driving, implementing and deploying the Human Resource (HR) Module of IPPIS.
She said: “The HR component of IPPIS is critical because it is the basis on which the other modules, especially the payroll module revolves. All staff in the core ministries have been verified and enrolled unto the IPPIS platform, which implies that the core staff can utilise the self-service components to generate pay slips and apply for leave.
“Following the release of N2.5 billion to pay the backlog of death benefits to the next of kin of deceased officers, as at today, the sum of N2,468, 094,063.08 has been expended to settle 594 beneficiaries. The balance will be paid to other beneficiaries once the Office receives the requisite banks’ attestation.”
This year’s celebration is themed, ‘Building the Africa We Want Through Embracing an African Culture that Underpins Purpose-driven Leadership in the Face of Crises’.
She revealed that with full deployment of the HR Module, human error would be minimised through streamlined data, cost reduced based on available accurate data, financial and manpower resources efficiently and effectively utilised and planned for; while storage of data collected on employees of the Federal Public Service is secure and only accessible to authorised officers.
