NDLEA boss seeks collaboration, partnership to tackle drug abuse

Marwa

Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Brig Gen. Mohammed Buba Marwa (Rtd), has stressed the need for collaboration and partnership to tackle drug abuse in the country.

Speaking at the public presentation of a book titled, ‘Dirty Leap’, written by Dr. Olayinka Oyegbile in Lagos, he observed that over the years, drug scourge has taken more complex dimensions, which urgently demands multi-dimensional responses and required building stronger and safer communities.

Marwa, who was represented by a Commander of Narcotics at the agency, Ibiba Odili, said the newly positioned NDLEA is mindful of the need for collaboration and partnership with relevant key stakeholders to build a significant resource platform for improved outcomes.

He said the book, ‘Dirty Leap’, could not have been written at a more appropriate time, when the drug problem is mutating into a national catastrophe.

According to him, the work exposes the nation’s current drug realities and also aligns with the new leap of energy, vision and deeper commitment at ensuring significant reduction in drug cultivation, production, trafficking and abuse.

He said it is clearly obvious that this work of art will significantly contribute to addressing the current gap and increase awareness on this germane global issue.

Marwa commended Dr. Oyegbile for contributing enormously to the fight against the societal malaise, adding that more inputs from diverse perspectives would still be required from other well-meaning individuals to achieve a more holistic outcome.
