Osibanjo launches sustainable procurement project

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has formally launched the Sustainable Procurement, Environmental and Social Standards Enhancement Project (SPESSE), observing that it is key to achieving and maintaining sustainable physical infrastructure.

At the unveiling of the project in Abuja, Osinbajo maintained that if Nigeria must achieve objectives of the Economic Recovery Growth Plan (ERGP) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the most populous black nation must get it right in procurement, environmental and social safeguards.

The Vice President, who was represented by the Minister of State for Education, Chuwkuemeka Nwajiuba, said the Procurement Act of 2017 and other extant laws could be amended if the need arises.
