Iganmode cultural festival to promote exquisite Awori tradition

This year’s Iganmode cultural festival, otherwise known as Odun Omo Iganmode Afeleja, is set to hold from December 13 and will run through December 19. The Awori kingdom cultural festival is dedicated to celebrating her hero ‘Iganmode’ and promotes the exquisite culture and tradition of the Aworis.
  
According to the Chairman, Iganmode Cultural Festival 2021 Central Planning Committee, Aare Ayodele Bankole, this year’s festival promises to be one of the most exciting in the history of the community as traditional rulers, leaders and dignitaries from far and near would be gracing the occasion.

“The idea is to celebrate our cultural, ancestral hero and irrepressible Awori warrior, Iganmode. His exploits in history have become the staying power and the spirituality of Ota Aworis wherever you find them. Iganmode is a symbol of leadership, influence, hard work, unity and teamwork.

To celebrate this iconic and revered figure of influence and his idyllic traits to galvanise those latent and residual energies in our people especially the youths, the committee has adopted a theme for this year’s event, Culture: A Module For A Sustainable Leadership.”

He continued: “We believe this is a well-timed theme that seeks to address and identify the synergy between cultural heritage, its influence to drive communal and personal efforts at building a sustainable leadership in our society.”
  
Bankole informed that the event will opens on Monday, December 13, with the Osugbo Prayer session, adding, “This will come up at the Olota of Ota Palace. There will be a free Medical Outreach programme to cater for the aged and the less privileged members of the community. It will be a daylong affair with medical personnel on ground at the palace attending to people who need medical attention. Day One will be concluded with a charity visitation to Ijamido Motherless Babies Home.

Day Two Tuesday, 14th December is our Youth Day. There will be a Youth Summit to give lipid and activate meanings to our central theme; Culture as a Module for Sustainable Leadership in Nigeria. The session intends to educate and inform participants of the significance and synergy between culture, customs and building sustainable leaders for effective leadership roles in the society. The day will be wrapped up with a Street Carnival for the Youth.
