There was stampede at the popular Olaiya flyover and Alekuwodo area on Saturday night as gunmen shot sporadically into crowd forcing many passerby, traders, including journalists to scamper to safety.

The development came amid the rounding off of collation exercise at the headquarters of the National Electoral Commission (INEC) office in Osogbo.

The incident which occurred around 9:30 pm created panic while tear gas canister fired by security agents persisted for several minutes.

Though it could not be ascertained what led to the incident, the gunshots were fired near a collation center located inside a Baptist Church and Primary School.
