The Enugu Police Command said yesterday that it had intensified efforts to track down hoodlums, who on Thursday night, shot and killed two police officers at a checkpoint.

Assistant Superintendent of Police, Olatunji Philip and Sergeant Manne Wilson were killed on Thursday around new haven axis of the state capital by yet to be identified gunmen.

It was gathered that the gunmen had, for some time, been terrorising residents of the area and had on Thursday returned to the area, where they met with stiff opposition from policemen at the various check points.

While making their escape, they had killed the two policemen.
