Ogun State Police Command has confirmed the killing of Reverend Father Luke Adeleke while coming from a mass on the eve of Christmas in the state

The 38-year-old cleric was waylaid and shot dead by gunmen at Ogunmakin in Obafemi-Owode Local Council of the state.

A source said Reverend Father Luke Adeleke was shot dead by gunmen while coming from a mass on the eve of Christmas.

Confirming the incident, the State Police Command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the incident happened at Ogunmakin and not Odeda as it was reported on social media.

He said the gunmen exchanged gunfire with policemen in the area, but they later escaped with bullet wounds.

He said: “It happened in Ogunmakin in Obafemi-Owode Local Council on Friday.

“The policemen engaged the gunmen in gunfire. Some of them escaped with bullet wounds.”

Attempts to get reactions from the Catholic mission in the state did not yield any success as a member of the mission, who also works in the communication department pleaded for more time but did not get back to the reporter.
