The Court of Appeal in Abuja has scheduled a hearing in the three appeals filed over the disputed congresses conducted by the Kano State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The three-man panel of the court adjourned the hearing till Friday, January 21, 2021, after the council, including Nureni Jimoh, Mamman Lawan and Steve Agbehi, all Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs) agreed to an adjournment to enable the parties to file all the necessary processes.

They disagreed with the November 30, 2021 judgment by Justice Hamza Muazu of the FCT High Court upholding the congresses held by the Shekarau faction of the party.

On January 13, Muazu withheld his ruling on an application by Governor Abdullahi Gabduje faction seeking to set aside the court’s earlier judgment.

Yesterday’s hearing was stalled for the failure of the Shekarau faction to file a response to the appeal process.

APC national headquarters, chairman and secretary of the ward and local council congresses have appealed Muazu’s judgment, which invalidated the congresses held by the national headquarters of the ruling party.

The lower court had validated the parallel congresses held by the Shekarau faction led by Ahmadu Haruna Danzago against Ganduje’s anointed chairman, Abdullahi Abbass.
