Nigeria’s security threats are surmountable, says COAS

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Farouk Yahaya, has declared the readiness of the Nigerian Army to defeat all security threats rocking the country.

Besides, the army chief insisted that Nigeria possess all necessary human resources and machinery to surmount the internal threat bedeviling the nation.

Yahaya, who made the declaration while commissioning units of accommodation and interaction with troops at the 73 Army Battalion, Janguza Barracks in Kano.

He disclosed that his visits across various army formations in the country had shown greater hope that the troops are winning the fight against insurgents while seeking the support of Nigerians to get rid of the enemies.

According to him, “I have interacted with troops and appreciated them and ginger them to continue to do their best. With their commitment, I am pleased to note that we will continue to achieve our mandate. And with the cooperation of all stakeholders together we would defeat the threats that are bedeviling our country.

“We will continue to support the troops and that is why we are here to address some of the issues on ground, particularly accommodation. We have commissioned several phases of accommodation. And we are not relenting, we will continue with the support we are getting from the President, who provided all the needed logistics and equipments.

“We are forging ahead and we will not be deterred by anyone. And together with other agencies we would defeat these threats,” the army boss said.

Earlier, during a courtesy visit to the Government House, Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, had told Yahaya that his administration has recorded tremendous successes in the use of technology to monitor activities of criminals within the metropolitan area and the dreaded Falgore forest.

Ganduje added that the existing strong synergy among the Army, Nigerian Air Force, Police, DSS and other security agents like customs, NDLEA, among others, had facilitated the enduring peaceful atmosphere in the state.
