The Allied People’s Movement (APM), on Wednesday, congratulated Nigerian youths on the occasion of the 2026 International Youth Day, pledging to prioritise youth inclusion and empowerment if elected into government.

In a statement by its National Chairman, Dr Yusuf Mamman Dantalle, the party said that this year’s theme, “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations,” reflects the realities and aspirations of young people across different societies.

He described Nigerian youths as patriotic and resilient, noting their contributions to the country’s development despite numerous national challenges.

Dantalle said: “It is obvious that while young people’s lives are shaped by different national and local realities, their aspirations are similar. Nigerian youth are patriotic and resilient in the face of numerous national challenges.

“They seek dignity, opportunity, meaningful participation in the affairs of their country, decent employment, quality education and a sustainable future as leaders of tomorrow.”

The APM recalled the significant role played by Nigerian youths in the struggle for independence in 1960, adding that young Nigerians have remained at the forefront of the country’s socio-economic and political development.

According to the party, Nigerian youths have distinguished themselves in sports, education, technological innovation and other fields, winning trophies and bringing laurels to the country.

He added, “APM is youth centred and will run an inclusive government if it comes to power in the 2027 presidential election. The party’s presidential candidate, Engr Seyi Makinde, has demonstrated exceptional leadership as the governor of Oyo State and has a blueprint for youth development, advancement and empowerment.

“The party’s youth programme and initiatives will also be implemented in governments at all levels where APM is in power. APM is a party for Nigerian youth to maximise their potential. It belongs to them.”

The party urged young Nigerians to identify with the APM and support its candidates in elections as part of efforts to build a strong, progressive, inclusive and prosperous democratic nation.

“Let us use the occasion of the International Youth Day to appreciate and recognise Nigerian youth and create an enabling environment that will spur them to greatness. With APM, their future starts today. We are all in it together,” he said.
