PDP takes campaign to central senatorial district, vows to win
Determined to reclaim its lost mandate, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) started the third phase of its campaign yesterday at the Edo Central Senatorial district. The campaign was led by the party’s national leader and former Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT) Tony Anenih. He was accompanied by the senator representing Edo Central, Clifford Ordia, former national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tom Ikimi and the deputy governorship candidate, John Yakubu.
The team also visited a number of traditional rulers across Esanland where they assured them that the PDP would give a better representation to the people and the traditional institution.
Anenih solicited massive support for the PDP’s candidate Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and his deputy, John Yakubu. At Ogwa, he told the Onojie of the area that the party expects not less than 90 per cent of votes from the domain, “especially because an Esan man is going to be represented in the incoming government of Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu.”
The campaign train also cruised to Ujiogba, where the king lamented the deplorable state of Ekpoma roads which is the capital of Esan West Local Council area, while assuring the PDP of total support by the people.
At Igueben, Anenih said “this election is between Adams Oshiomole and Esan people.” He berated the APC for the total neglect of Esanland during the tenure of the outgoing government of Oshiomhole.
On his part, Ikimi called on the people to disregard the antics of the APC, which tries to pull a wool over the face of the Igueben people. He urged the people to reject the ” Greek gift” of the speaker of the state assembly, a gift he said, has no legal backing.
Yakubu solicited the blessings of the traditional ruler for this election and beyond, promising to be a worthy ambassador of all the people of Edo State, especially the Esan people.
The party’s deputy governorship candidate told the traditional rulers how he worked hard for his people in Esan North East Local Council area while he was chairman. He also reminded them of the vicious attacks of Oshiomhole against him for working hard for his people.
