The Enugu State Government, through its Technology Hub (Tech Hub), has perfected plans to train 400 women on software engineering to not only take them out of the labour market, but also empower them to create jobs.
Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Enugu State Tech Hub, Chidubem Anowor, disclosed this, yesterday, in Enugu at the pre-launch of the Enugu State Tech Hub Software Engineering programme tagged: ADA Software Engineering with the theme: Break The Bias.
He stated that the ICT training would last for six months, stressing that the programme was tagged ADA Software, because it was targeted at grooming ladies in the tech hub industry in the South East region.
“The ADA Software Engineering programme focuses on incubating young women from Nigeria’s southeastern region in tech talent tracks and innovations so that 80 per cent of the talent output from the programme become startups with ready-to market cutting edge tech innovations.
“It will also further close the skills and innovation gap in the ecosystem and we are doing this for only women. We chose the Code Name ADA because of its significance in Igbo society,” he said.
Deputy Speaker, Enugu State House of Assembly, Uche Ugwu, encouraged women to continue to work hard for a better society.
