Number of aspirants seeking to govern Delta State swelled yesterday with Chris Iyovwaye, managing director of Wellmann Group, joining the race.
At a ceremony, Iyovwaye said he had accepted the invitation to run by accepting the governorship form purchased for him by various groups in the state.
Chief Hope Erute, leader of Urhobo Unity Forum, while presenting the forms to the Iyovwaye, said Iyovwaye is the group’s choice for the 2023 governorship election.
MEANWHILE, the Niger Delta Youths Congress (NDYC) has urged other political zones in the country to support the core South-South region to produce the next president in 2023.
The National Co-ordinator, Israel Uwejeyan, and National Secretary, Bakpa Orerhime, who spoke on behalf of the group, said NDYC aimed at addressing issues of injustice, deprivation, socio-political and environmental challenges that confront the people of the Niger Delta region, with particular interest in strengthening youths to play prominent roles in addressing the challenges.
