The Deputy Governor of Oyo State, Rauf Olaniyan, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the major opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).
Olaniyan disclosed this yesterday at a press briefing in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
He said that he remained the deputy governor of the state, adding that his defection does not affect the relationship between him and his principal, Governor Seyi Makinde.
This is coming after last week’s viral report that Makinde had dropped Olaniyan as his running mate for the 2023 governorship election.
However, neither the governor nor Olaniyan had debunked the story of him (Olaniyan) being dropped as running mate to Makinde for next year’s election until yesterday when the deputy governor finally exit the PDP.
