Kebbi State’s chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is in for a defection-induced shock, as two senators, one House of Representatives member and some House of Assembly members in the state defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with their supporters.
Confirming this to newsmen, yesterday, in Birnin Kebbi, former APC spokesman, Sani Dododo, said the defection became necessary because the present administration shunned justice during the primary.
He explained that Senators Adamu Aliero and Yahaya Argungu among others felt cheated.
“A withdrawal letter was given to the APC ward and council chairman to indicate that they have withdrawn their membership cards from APC,” he said.
According to Dododo, the decision followed the primary elections in the state, adding that efforts had been made to reconcile with the Aliero faction to move the state forward, but the governor frustrated the efforts.
Responding, an APC chieftain, Kabiru Gaint, said their defection would not affect APC’s victory, as “we rely on God, and it is the same God that can do the best for us.”
He slammed some politicians, who move from one party to another to achieve their political aim.
“It is high time politicians stopped playing selfish politics. They should be neutral in their acts, should extend the same gesture to other families and remain where they are, and if they reach a certain age, they should stop jumping from one party to another,” he said.
