GKS warns culprits of Owo killings of God’s impending strike

The violence at St. Francis Catholic Church in Owo town in Ondo State erupted during the morning service in a rare attack in the southwest of Nigeria, where jihadists and criminal gangs operate in other regions.

The God’s Kingdom Society (GKS), The Church of the Living God has joined other well meaning Nigerians to condemn the recent attack on worshipers at the Saint Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo State, warning that those who thrive in shedding of innocent blood will not go unpunished if they refuse to change.

The church in a statement, signed by its General Secretary, Brother Benedict Hart, expressed dismay at the mass killings of Catholic worshippers in Owo, and other parts of the country, reminding the culprits that God had decreed that “Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man,” as stated in Genesis 9:6.

The statement added that “he that killeth with the sword must be killed with the sword,” as also stated in Revelation 13:10. It called on Nigerians to be extra vigilant and highly discreet to be able to identify strange faces and suspicious movements so as to take whatever precautionary measures that are necessary.

The statement reads further: “In the situation we find ourselves, the people cannot fold their arms and do nothing; they need to be watchful, discreet and highly security-conscious in their day-to-day undertakings as the scripture says: ‘Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.”
