An ex-member of Ekiti State House of Assembly, Morakinyo Adebayo and present member of Social Democratic Party (SDP), has alleged there was vote buying across Ikole and other polling units in Ekiti North during the election.
He acknowledged that INEC and some security agencies did well in terms of preparations.
He said: “It is quite impressive compared to what we had in 2018. It is very appalling and devastating that the issue of vote buying is taking place in almost all polling units I have visited, and even outside Ikole Ekiti. The information we receive across the state is that vote buying is prevailing.
“The moment you pay and get into office, you will forget the masses. In 2014, it was N5,000 and in 2018, they paid same amount. But now, they have increased it to N10,000. That is the reports from all the polling units. A particular party will emerge at the end of the day. I am happy I have satisfied my conscience. What is bad is bad. We need a change and that change must include credible and transparent poll to choose our leaders.”
