The Coalition of Civil Society, Workers and Human Rights Defenders (COCSWAHD) said, yesterday, that true patriotism is required to save the country from its present challenges and called on Nigerians to take back their country.

The organisation, which lamented the weak economic, social and political systems of the country, said unless something urgent is done, there may not be a country to hand over to future generations.

Addressing reporters in Enugu, COCSWAHD advised that Nigerians must rise to the challenges by using the extended voter’s registration exercise to end electoral manipulations and merchandising of elective offices by politicians and exclusion of credible persons from contesting elective offices.

The group’s Convener, Osmond Ugwu, who read the position of the organisation on the state of the nation, stated that the 2023 general elections have presented Nigerians the opportunity to work towards a country they want to live in, stressing they should obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to enable them to participate in the 2023 electoral process.
