The military is probing two suspected gunrunners arrested early this week for being major suppliers of ammunition to bandits in Wase and Kanam Local Councils of Plateau State.

The Guardian learnt from a competent and reliable source that the troops of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) in conjunction with the Directorate of State Service (DSS), who were acting on credible intelligence, arrested the suspects in Riyom council of Plateau State.
 
The suspects are identified as Caleb Zulfa Wuyer and Niman Yonkur Manwat.
 
They were nabbed with 2,968 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition at a place called Makera in Riyom.
    
According to the source, the suspects were intercepted en route Mabudi in Langtang South Local Council of the state.
  
Preliminary investigation, they said, revealed that they are major suppliers of weapons to bandits operating in Wase and Kanam, adding that the suspects confessed their involvement in shady and criminal deals.
    
The suspects are said to be in the custody of the OPSH, undergoing interrogation.
 
At press time, the Military Information Officer (MIO) for the OPSH, Major Ishaku Takwa, is yet to speak on this development, as he did not pick up his calls nor respond to text messages sent to his mobile telephone.
