• Ogun says no hiding place for criminals as 17-year-old kidnapped victim returns

An Iyaganku Magistrate’s court sitting in Ibadan has remanded a 25-year-old herder, Busi Kirowa, at Agodi Correctional facility for alleged murder.
The herder was arraigned by Oyo State Police Command on a one-count of murder.
The Prosecutor, Oluyemi Eyiaromi, told the court that Mr Kirowa and others at large on August 4, unlawfully caused the death of Monsuru Mohammed, 33.
Eyiaromi said Kirowa allegedly stabbed the victim with a knife in his stomach.
He said the offence was committed at about 6:00p.m. in the Karinu area of Oyo town.
The prosecutor said the offence contravenes Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Code Law of Oyo State 2000.
Magistrate T.B. Oyekanmi ,who did not take the plea of the defendant , for lack of jurisdiction , ordered his remand at Agodi Correctional facility, Ibadan, pending the outcome of the case file at the Oyo State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).
She adjourned the matter to November 3, for mention.
MEANWHILE, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has said there will be nohiding place for criminals in the state, just as he revealed a 17-year-old kidnapped victim, Akinlaja Ireoluwa Oluwatomiwa, who escaped from captivity.
The governor, in a statement by his chief press secretary, Kunle Somorin, said the victim, who was kidnapped on his way to the Redemption City on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, escaped from his abductors as security operatives swooped on their den, in Ikorodu, Lagos.
The victim, Oluwatomiwa is a student of the Redeemers University in Osun State. He was on his way to join his parents when he was kidnapped.
“Our security men had trailed the kidnappers to Ikorodu, where the victim was being held hostage. Their arrival on the scene had given an opportunity for the victim to escape from captivity.
“We are happy that the victim escaped unhurt. He has since been reunited with his parents,” the statement said.
The statement further highlighted that the security operatives are still on the trail of the kidnappers, adding that no effort would be spared to rid the state of undesirable elements.
“The Governor appreciates the sacrifices of the security personnel and asks them not to relent in their commitment at restoring public confidence and safety on the highways always.”
“Ogun State has zero tolerance for terrorists, bandits, kidnappers or ritual murderers and other criminals by whatever name they are called”, the state helmsman insisted, saying: “our security system has been fortified to repel them; we will smoke them out and visit the full wrath of the law on them,” the statement added.
ALSO, Happiness Odeh, a mass Communication student of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, who was kidnapped along Ipara Remo, in Ogun State has been found dead.
Odeh, a year two National Diploma student of the Polytechnic won miss MAPOLY beauty pageant on August 3 and was declared missing but found dead a week after.
