Ekiti State Governor’s wife, Erelu Bisi Fayemi, will tomorrow commission two water projects donated to underserved communities in the state.
The beneficiary communities are Odo Ayedun-Ekiti and Oke Ako-Ekiti, both in Ajoni Local Council Development Area (LCDA). Group Chief Executive Officer of the firm, Dr. Anton C. Bizzell, said the projects were particularly geared towards expanding international co-operation and building capacity in developing countries for water and sanitation related programmes.
Also, Vice President, Global Programmes of Bizzell Global, Rose Khasiala Amolo, said: “This is a big step in our objective to increase our footprint of international development across Africa, the Middle East and other parts of the world. We are proud to have worked with stakeholders in government and the beneficiary communities to achieve these projects, which would impact thousands of people, and measurably improve outcomes in health, the environment and economic empowerment.”
A community leader and facilitator of the project, Akin Rotimi, said the initiative would go a long way in consolidating the cordial relationship between Nigeria and the United States (U.S.), and is a demonstration of citizen diplomacy championed by well-meaning Americans in collaboration with Nigerians who have worked together to deliver the project.
Traditional ruler of Odo Ayedun-Ekiti, one of the beneficiary communities, Oba Dr. Solomon Ilesanmi Ajibade, expressed gratitude on behalf of the community and announced that the commissioning would also feature conferment of an honourary chieftaincy title on Bizzell, in appreciation of his philanthropic gesture.
