Task force impounds 37 Okada, arrests five
The Lagos State Police Command, Adeniji-Adele Division, has arrested a notorious gang member of traffic robbers for dispossessing motorists of their belongings at the Ilubirin end of the Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos.
The suspect, Charles Igbadoh, was arrested following constant patrol by police officers in the area.
Further investigation led to the arrest of the receivers of the stolen goods, Odinaka Obiadu and Micheal Adeniyi.
Lagos State Police spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement, yesterday, said the suspects are assisting the police in an investigation aimed at arresting other criminal elements in the axis.
According to him, the state’s commissioner of police, (CP) Abiodun Alabi, has directed that efforts be sustained in all identified black spots towards ensuring that all miscreants in those areas are apprehended and dealt with in accordance with the law.
MEANWHILE, Lagos State Task force, yesterday, impounded 37 motorcycles and arrested five people in Egbeda and Ogba areas of Lagos.
The action followed the extension and enforcement of ban on okada operations to four more Local Councils and their respective Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs) by Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Recall that in May 18, 2022, Governor Sanwo-Olu , imposed a fresh ban on okada operation in six councils and nine LCDAs, to curtail the unruly activities of the riders.
Speaking yesterday on the level of compliance, Director, Press & Public Affairs, Gbadeyan Abdulraheem, said: “The compliance level is very impressive and we impounded 37 motorcycles and arrested five people during the operation.
