Urges FG to declare national emergency on flooding
The Presidential Candidate of the Nigeria Rescue Movement (NRM), Felix Johnson Osakwe, has promise to place premium on green energy to save the world from destruction if voted into power at the 2023 presidential poll.

The human development expert stated that the menace of climate change has left Nigerians suffering from diseases due to unabated gas flaring in the Niger Delta region and other places in the country.

He said even though the laws are there to stop the “criminal act,” enforcement remains a huge challenge, as the citizens are at the receiving end, while the government reap the dividends of oil and gas exploration in the region.

The presidential hopeful noted that the environment of the Niger Delta region has badly been degraded continously, which has contributed to the depletion of the ozone layer due to the abuse of environmental sanity.

He said this was the reason air in the states of the South-Southern region were polluted by sooth with Nigerians yet to come out of the negative impacts.

The NRM government, according to the presidential candidate, will encourage planting of trees as well as commence the phase out of the use of fossil fuels in segments and promote the use of the green energy, particularly solar, wind and water.

“Our government shall key into the sweeping global revolution of the green energy to grow and develop our country technologically and ensure we rank among the world best. It is only analogue generation that won’t see the latent advantages in the promotion of green energy. With green energy, Nigeria will be more good sufficient and have enough to export to the world. As a nation, we need green energy more than our analogue generation knows,” Osakwe noted.

Similarly, the global youth Ambassador and preacher in the vineyard called on President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration and state governments to declare the current flood ravaging the country’s littoral states as national emergency.

He said this is to find a lasting solution to what he described as recurring national disaster that is unavoidable for a responsible government.

Osakwe said declaring national emergency will save lives and properties of citizens as he queried the attitude by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) towards rescuing the victims of the flood, which he noted is ravaging the country from North to the South.

The NRM Presidential candidate said the loss of lives and properties occasioned by the flood, was preventable if NEMA had not waited for instruction from the presidency to swing into action as he bemoaned inactive institutions in the country for its woes.

Osakwe noted that those worse hit by the flood are Kogi, Anambra, Delta, Bayelsa and River states, where he said schools, farmlands, houses, homes have been deserted, while people suffer debilitating hunger due to flood.

He called on government to provide alternative shelter, food, medicals for the people without further delay.

“The government of NRM will not reel out unverifiable statistics like others do. We are genuinely committed to a new Nigeria built on truth and honesty as we are poised to run and open and transparent government for all Nigerians. We won’t promise what we cannot do. Unlike those who relish lies, our government won’t exit 340 million Nigerians from poverty out of less than 250 million Nigerian population.” He said noting that every lie told has expiring date,” he said.

He continued: “The NRM have the capacity, competence, savvy and zeal to rewrite the ugly narratives of Nigeria/Nigerians. Our team is formidably strong mentally and psychologically to put Nigeria in the global map of developed nations. We as a nation have had enough excuses to justify poor governance. What we have in our kitty is good governance and the Nigerian youths should ensure analogue leaders are consigned to the dustbin of history.”
