Two Northern groups want President Bola Tinubu to retain Bello Matawalle as the Minister of State for Defence amid talks of an imminent shake-up

Zamfara State government has approved immediate reopening of Gummi, Anka and Bukkuyum Local Councils, as well as all towns, roads and markets recently closed by the government due to heightened insecurity in parts of the state.

The state’s Commissioner for Information, Ibrahim Magaji Dosara, in a statement, yesterday,  said the approval followed satisfactory reports received on security situation in the affected communities.

“In view of the above, government has lifted the embargo it enforced on political activities in the state. However, people are advised to conduct themselves in accordance with the rule of law, as government will not condone any act capable of disturbing the peace and tranquillity being restored by our gallant security operatives.

“The state government under the leadership of His Excellency, Dr. Bello Mohammed Matawalle Maradun will not compromise its constitutional responsibilities to the people of the state.

“The government reassures the people of its commitment and determination to protect lives and property of the citizens,” the statement added.
