UNILAG hosts 10th Triangular Games
The University of Lagos chapter of Senior Staff Club will from November 3 to 6, 2016, host the 10th edition of the Triangular Games competition in Akoka, Lagos.
The yearly sporting event, rotated among the three participating universities of Lagos, Ibadan (UI) and Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), is geared at fostering a cordial relationship among the senior members of staff of the affected institutions.
The sports to be competed for include soccer, dart, table tennis, tennis and draught, among others.
Speaking in Lagos, president of the host institution’s Senior Staff Club, Prince Adebayo Adegbiji, said the games would promote friendship, camaraderie, bonding and cultural ties among the three federal universities.
He added that the sporting activities were also tailored to encourage healthy lifestyles among members, stressing that the event was a veritable break from the rigorous work in the classroom.
“So much lot is expected from this 10th edition. We are going to have veterans’ game. There are some of these games that were never graded in the past. So, this year, there will be proper grading,” he assured.
His counterparts from UI and OAU, Prof. Olufemi Adegbesan and Dr. Adesina Coker, while corroborating, noted that the senior staff clubs had equally engaged in bringing to the fore burning issues and proffering expert solutions.
