Rivers PDP complies with Executive Order 21, pays N95m for campaign grounds

Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State says it has paid the sum of N95 million for the use of public facilities in the state for its campaigns. The action is in compliance with precautionary payment of N5 million per venue stipulated in Executive Order 21.

A statement issued by the Chairman of the Publicity and Communications Committee of the New Rivers Vision Campaign Council, Ogbonna Nwuke, disclosed this yesterday.

The statement noted that the party had received an official approval from the office of the Commissioner for Education, Chinedum Mbom. Executive Order 21 prescribes payment of N5 million by political parties as condition for use of facilities such as schools.

Part of the letter conveyed and made available to newsmen reads:

“I hereby acknowledge receipt of your deposit of the total sum of Ninety-five million naira (N95, 000,000. 00) only into the state government account, being the required precautionary deposit for the use of your indicated public schools’ facilities in Rivers State.”

“Sir, sequel to your compliance with the directive as contained in our letter, dated December 6, 2022, I hereby convey to you, my approval of your request for the use of state-owned schools’ facilities as indicated in the annexure to your application.”
