Unlike previous winners of the Mrs Nigeria pageantry who only participated at the Mrs Universe, Obaigbo will be the first Nigerian to participate in the glamorous Mrs World beauty pageant slated for January 9, 2022, to January 16, 2022.

Mrs World is the first beauty pageant for married women, in Nigeria. It is the biggest marital pageant in the world, featuring contestants from 80 countries. Mrs Nigeria debuted in Lagos, in 2017, and has since produced winners at each respective edition.

Obaigbo is also set to be a country guest at the Mrs Universe, Mrs Globe and Mrs United Nations pageantries.

The Edo-indigene, also popularly known as Oreime, said, “I believe I am a purpose-driven individual who thrives to make a society a better place through advocacy for environmental sustainability and empowerment programmes and Mrs Nigeria is putting a new face to the married woman.

“As a result, I am currently running different pet projects towards realising this goal. They include the Gathering Africa, which is a bi-monthly spoken word event meant to boost culture and creativity among Nigerians and indeed Africans, the Ecoprolive designed to create awareness on the importance of making the environment clean and green and the Food for all ( F4A) initiative, meant to feed the less privileged and disadvantaged in the society.”

The University of Benin graduate said she feels highly motivated to represent the country on such a big platform that parades the most inspiring women across different parts of the world with beauty, intelligence and achievements to show, promising to make her participation count for herself and the country.

Obaigbo, who is also the ex-face of Pulse added: “I am happy to be in the midst of great women all across the world that have been successful too in their respective countries. We have a Whatsapp platform where we have been connecting and relating with ourselves on some of the projects we are doing in our various countries. We have been sharing ideas on how to improve on our projects in a way that can be more felt and appreciated by the people”.

Speaking on marriage becoming a hindrance in beauty pageantry, Obaigbo said: “It’s about getting married to the right person. Honestly, getting married to your friend, someone who’s there to support you and help you grow. Because when you’re married to the person looking out for your best interest, the person will always be there for you 100 per cent.

“Women will do better to inspire others with their achievements and lofty attainments if they don’t give in to the stereotype which condemns their roles only to the kitchen.”

On her plan after the contest, she said: “After this pageant, I will expand my projects and impact more lives because I feel the more people one can help, the better the environment.

M778 Managing Director, Lekan Lawal said his company is partnering with the beauty pageant to help realise her dream.

“Such a worthy cause deserves to be promoted and supported at a time the country is at its lowest ebb.

“We feel as a firm that we owe the country a duty to support any cause capable of projecting its image. Don’t forget the situation currently in the country has not been palatable with negative stories flying around every day. This Mrs Nigeria/ World project for us is one of those worthy causes that can help change the narrative that the country is not just about adverse reports.

“The fact that this is the first time Nigeria will be represented on such a big stage makes it even more interesting and instructive. We couldn’t have done otherwise seeing the possibilities inherent in such beauty competition that gives married women the opportunity to exhibit their potential and achievements and not just their beauty and physical endowments alone.
