Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council urges NNPCL to review petrol pricing

The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide has called on the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) to urgently review and adjust the current petrol pricing template.

This is as the group commended NNPCL’s recent achievements, including producing 1.8 million barrels of crude oil per day and plans to reach two million barrels by December 2024.

In a statement signed by its National President, Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, the council noted that many Nigerians struggle under the weight of high petrol prices.

“While we commend NNPCL’s achievements, we must address the economic realities faced by Nigerians,” Nnabuike said. “We call upon Chief Mele Kyari and NNPCL to urgently review and adjust the current petrol pricing template.”

The council emphasised that reducing petrol prices would provide much-needed relief to Nigerians during challenging times.

The statement also welcomed recent leadership appointments within NNPCL and urged Nigerians to support the company’s ongoing efforts.

“We welcome the recent leadership appointments within NNPCL, including the appointments of Mr. Adedapo Segun as Chief Financial Officer, Mr. Isiyaku Abdullahi as Executive Vice President (EVP) for Downstream, and Mr. Udobong Ntia as EVP for Upstream.”

With NNPCL’s current path, the council expressed confidence in a revitalised Nigerian economy, but stressed the need for immediate action on petrol pricing.

“We remain committed to supporting efforts that uplift the economy and enhance the well-being of Nigerians,” Nnabuike added.
