Foundation empowers 15 at awards ceremony

BOF Foundation has empowered 15 people at its 5th yearly lecture and awards ceremony at Rotary Centre, Ikeja Government Reserved Area (GRA), Lagos.

The event also witnessed the 52nd birthday celebration of the founder and Chief Executive Officer of BOF, Bola Oyebade.

Speaking, Oyebade said: “What we are doing differently at this 5th edition is officially empowering 15 members of the society with a view to putting food on their tables.

“We are giving cash awards to people, with one of them receiving the sum of N30,000.00 to support her apprenticeship , while umbrellas are given to traders who are into the business of frying plantain as shade.

“Three fashion designers are each receiving sewing machines, while barbers were empowered with clippers for their business.”

He urged well meaning Nigerians to imbibe the culture of giving to the poor, which according to him, is the will of God, adding that this is the essence of life.

Oyebade said the foundation’s follow-up on previous beneficiaries revealed that two of them who got an industrial sewing machine respectively are doing well in their businesses.

The founder, who said the foundation would be extending its tentacles to Port Harcourt, said helping the poor would go a long way to assisting government, as it cannot do everything.

The Guest Speaker from Ikeja Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Agriculture, Ezekiel Awal, who spoke on agriculture as the main stream of financial freedom and sustainability, asked Nigerians to embrace agriculture and have multiple streams of income.
