Jimoh Ibrahim, others emerge senators as Ondo APC clinches eight Reps seats

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has won all three senatorial seats in Ondo State.

The party also clinched eight of the nine House of Representatives seats with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), winning the remaining one.

In the southern senatorial district of the state, businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim, who contested under the APC platform emerged winner. He polled 110,665 votes to defeat his main rival and former deputy governor, Agboola Ajayi of the PDP, who scored 65,784 votes.

Similarly, the APC candidate for Ondo Central Senatorial District, Niyi Adegbomire, secured 103,871 votes to beat PDP’s Ifedayo Adedipe, who got 74,702 votes.

For Ondo North Senatorial District, Jide Ipinsagba of APC won with 115,933 votes, while his close rival, Tokunbo Modupe of the PDP lost after polling 48,842 ballots.

With the APC making a bold statement with the senatorial seats, the party also secured most of House of Representatives seats.

The incumbent lawmaker representing Owo/Ose Federal Constituency, Timehin Adelegbe, scored 34,550 votes to defeat PDP’s Ayo Arowele, who had 20,865 ballots.

In Ilaje/Ese-Odo Federal Constituency, former Commissioner for Information, Donald Ogojo, won with 26,306 votes to defeat the incumbent lawmaker, Kolade Akinjo, who polled 22,390 ballots.

The PDP won the Ifedore/ Idanre Federal Constituency through Festus Akingbaso.

The other federal legislative seats cleared by APC include: Akoko South East /South West, via Gboyega Adefarati; Akure North/Akure South, through Derin Adesida and Irele/Okitipupa won by Jimi Odimayo.

The rest are: Akoko North East/North West, clinched by Bunmi Tunji-Ojo; Odigbo/Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo, won by Festus Adefiranye, while Abiola Makinde returned as House of Representatives member representing Ondo West/East Federal Constituency.
