Plateau State governor-elect, Caleb Mutfwang, has promised to be a governor of all, as he intends to run an inclusive administration with a clear vision of developing the entire state.

Mutfwang of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in his acceptance speech, yesterday, expressed appreciation to Plateau citizens for voting for him as the next governor and dedicated his victory to God and the citizens. He paid tribute to his supporters, who lost their lives during electioneering.

He said: “I am humbled by the confidence you have reposed in me. As we begin the transition process, I assure all Plateau citizens that I will be the governor of all. I intend to set up an inclusive administration with a clear vision of developing the entire state. By God’s grace, we shall be fair and just in all our dealings. I, therefore, call on all of us to rise up together as a united people to confront the challenges ahead.”

In Kaduna State, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governor-elect, Uba Sani, assured the people of his unrelenting dedication to good governance. He also pledged to be focused in the affairs of the state, for the next four years.

Sani made the pledge on the heels of a statement by the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Isah Ashiru, who called his supporters to remain calm and law-abiding, as everything was being done to redress the lapses associated with last Saturday’s governorship election in the state.

The governor-elect’s promise to be dedicated to good governance was contained in his acceptance speech delivered in Kaduna on Monday night when the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared him the winner of the election.

Jigawa State governor-elect, Umar Namadi, on his part, promised to prioritise justice, fairness and pragmatic leadership.

Director of Press to the Deputy Governor, Ahmed Haruna, said this was contained in Namadi’s acceptance speech.

“Your votes have demonstrated that you share our vision for a greater Jigawa State, and I promise to work assiduously to make that vision a reality.

“As we celebrate this victory, let us remember that this is not just a victory for me or our party, but victory for all the people of Jigawa. Our victory is a testament to the effectiveness of our democracy, and to the strength and resilience of our people,” he said.

Kano State governor-elect, Abba Yusuf, declared that his administration would sustain policies and philosophy of former Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso.

Yusuf while addressing supporters on the outcome of the election made it clear the incoming administration of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) would be continuation of Kwankwaso’s developmental agenda while in office.

The governor-elect, a close political ally of Kwankwaso, served as Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure under his administration between 2011 and 2015.

“Let me assure the good people of Kano of our resolve to uphold and continue with the philosophy of the Kwankwasiyya. We shall continue with its laudable populace policies of good qualitative education and empowerment programmes,” he said.

But Kano APC has rejected the governorship election results that produced NNPP’s Yusuf.

Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Abbas, during a briefing in Kano, yesterday, called for the review of the election results within one week.

Abbas, who was represented by the party’s Legal Adviser, Abdul Fagge, said the election should be declared inconclusive because the cancelled votes were greater than the margin between the first and the second parties.

He, however, the drew attention to the cancellation of 16 House of Assembly elections in the state, sighting violence as the reason, while the same votes were considered in collating the governorship election.

However, the APC candidate, Nasiru Gawuna, called for calm, while reiterating his agreement with the party’s decision.
