Okowa’s kinsman petitions Delta CP over alleged threat to life

Mohammed Alli

MR. Amufia Christian of Owa Alero community in Ika North East Council of Delta State has petitioned the state Police Commissioner, Mr. Ari Mohammed Alli, over an allegation to assassinate him by Ifeanyi Nwachukwu, Benjamin Uwaezueka and one Nnamdi during the governorship and House of Assembly elections.

The petition, signed by an Asaba-based lawyer, Maureen Ugwuiyi, urged the commissioner to intervene by arresting and prosecuting the suspects.
The seven-paragraph petition, dated March 20, 2023, was made available to journalists in Asaba, yesterday.

The petitioner alleged that on the fateful day, at Eghoma Primary School, Owa-Alero, while he was standing with one Mr. Odiase, Nwachukwu came to where they stood, stretched out his hand to shake him, but he refused and his refusal angered Nwachukwu, who immediately left the scene.

“Few hours later, I received calls from Uwaezueka and Nnamdi, a younger brother to Nwachukwu, who accused me of disgracing their boss, Nwachukwu, and threatened to eliminate me.”

“Based on the threats I received via phone calls, about 11:30 p.m. of the same day, I decided to leave the hotel to my family house to sleep and on my way home, Uwaezueka and his cult gang, in a convoy of two cars, chased me but as they tried to block me, my elder brother, Mr. Emmanuel Amufia, opened the gate and I managed to maneuver my car and escaped”, he stated.

He urged the commissioner to intervene, saying: “It is on this reprehensive conduct and based on the fact that life has no duplicate that we implore you passionately to cause painstaking investigations into this case with a view to bringing Nwachukwu, Uwaezueka, Nnamdi and their cohorts to book.”
