The management of Umuahia based De Choice Eatery owned by De Choice Fast Food Ltd, yesterday, called for calm over the death of one of a staff members, 27-year-old Izuchukwu Mbakwe.
Mbakwe was shot dead on Sunday by a security personnel attached to the eatery outlet.
The management in a statement, expressed pain and sadness at the death of Mbakwe, stating that it will do everything within the law to ensure that justice prevails on the matter.
According to the management, Mbakwe’s death was solely the action of the vigilante attached to its office/outlet and has been handed over to the police for investigation.
The eatery management added that it never at any time authorised the vigilante to shoot the deceased, hence, it was extremely shocked and devastated by the horrible turn of events.
The firm said: “ Our organisation is in no way connected to or responsible for the actions of this individual. We are committed to peace, unity, and the betterment of our community. We strongly condemn any form of violence that threatens the safety and well-being of our members.
“We are grateful to the law enforcement agencies for their swift action in apprehending the vigilante responsible for this and we have full faith that justice will be served. We extend our deepest appreciation to all those who have worked tirelessly to ensure the safety of our community.”
