When you look at God’s relationship with the children of Israel after their liberation from Egypt, you could compare it with the care God has with the church today. God redeemed the children of Israel from bondage for a purpose. They suffered servitude, oppressions and humiliation for several years and eventually the Lord in His own miraculous way redeemed them on their move to the Promised Land with the sole aim of establishing them in Canaan so that God could begin to fulfill His plan for mankind. Recall that in Genesis, God made a promise to Abraham, the great grandfather of the children of Israel that He will bless the entire humanity through his descendants. At the appointed time that promise was fulfilled even though the enemy wedged war against it, yet it came to pass.
God took the children of Israel to the Promised Land to begin the process of actualising His programme for mankind. Same way the Lord has redeemed the church with the sole aim to accomplish His purpose for mankind. God’s purpose for redeeming the church is to make the church His battle axe. God Has raised the church to dispel darkness that is increasing in our time and has filled the world. The church is raised to be a battle axe in the Hands of God, so that the church could defeat the enemy who is trying to take over the world through all manner of sin that are on the increase in our society and also opposing the knowledge of God.
God wants the Church to stand firm for Him in this end time and be the light of the world. Moses made a call for those who are on the side of God to come over to him. God is not looking for compromisers like Aaron, who turned the hearts of the people against God by making a golden image in place of God for the children of Israel to worship while Moses was away to the mountain to receive the Commandments of God. God is looking for people who will not manufacture any replacement of God in any form in the people’s heart. God is not pleased with our compromise and worldliness. You walk in a dangerous path when you don’t walk in the commandments of God.

When Moses came down from the mountain, the Bible says that Moses took the golden image, which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder (Exodus 32:20). Moses restored order because there was chaos everywhere. Moses stood in the power of God and called out to the people saying: “Who is on the Lord’s side. Let them come unto me.” Stand up for Jesus and make known to all that you are on Christ side. Paul said in Romans 1:16: “for I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation.” God wants you and I to stand up for Him everywhere we go and proclaim the name of Jesus. Moses held up the banner of Christ and called on those who want to follow Christ and the sons of Levi responded positively. I persuade you today to follow Christ and live for Him all the days of your life.
