An early morning fire, yesterday, razed down a Flux Logistix Self-Storage warehouse on Sapara William Street, off Oba Akran Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos.

The fire occurred barely a week after another incident consumed 580 shops in Balogun Market, Lagos Island.

The Guardian learnt the fire was reported at about 8:58.a.m., but nothing could be done to savage any of the products in the 4,650 square metre warehouse.

The warehouse harboured finished distilled volatilite and combustible products, such as Martel, Jameson, Hennessy and other expensive whiskeys.

Apart from one heat extractor and few fire extinguishers at the scene, there was no fire hydrant.

The intensity of the radiation resulting from the chemical compound materials gave way for sparse explosions as men of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service (LFRS) from Ikeja, Alausa and Bolade battled to put out the fire  and prevented it from spreading to other buildings.

A man, identified as a manager of the warehouse, refused to speak with The Guardian on the incident, but a worker said he was able to escape without injury.

Although no life was lost, goods, office tools and a forklift worth several millions of naira were consumed in the fire.

An official of LSFRS told The Guardian that attempts were made to move out the forklift, but it could not start.

Responding to the incident, Director, LSFRS, Margaret Adeseye, said investigation is on to determine the cause of the fire.
