Delta CP denies release of policemen accused of kidnapping

The Delta State Police Command has denied online report of alleged release of two policemen accused of kidnapping one Efe Umukoro Daniel at Abraka, Ethiope East Council.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Zanna Ibrahim, in a statement yesterday in Asaba, explained that the two policemen, who stood accused of being engaged in professional misconduct and illegal duty, are currently facing orderly room trial presided over by Dumnamara Gbarale, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) at B Division in Asaba.

The policemen had reportedly abducted Umukoro last week, but members of the state anti-kidnapping squad immediately swung into action following a tip off by an eyewitness at the scene of the incident.

Luck ran out on them when they were engaged by the anti-kidnapping committee, led by its Assistant Director of Operations, Tony Edafiogho, went after the kidnappers in a hot pursuit, leading to their apprehension along the Okpara Waterside axis of Ethiope East Council.

Ibrahim added that David Udubrae, who allegedly contacted the policemen to arrest Umukoro over a business transaction that went sour, was also in detention.
