National Executive Committee (NEC) of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been urged to immediately expel the senator-elect for Taraba South, David Jimkuta, from the party.
Making the call, yesterday, via a statement to newsmen in Jalingo, the Chairman, State Working Committee (SWC), Ibrahim El-Sudi, also announced that former guber aspirant of the party in Taraba State, Chief David Kente, has been expelled.
The call for Jimkuta’s expulsion, according to El-Sudi, became necessary following “the plethora of offences” he was found guilty of.
Taraba APC said a five-man disciplinary committee from Takum Local Council had earlier invited the senator-elect for questioning, but he refused to appear before the panel.
Report of the disciplinary committee was submitted to APC in Takum, which expelled him from the party.
Citing Article 13.9 (iv) of the APC Constitution 2022 as amended, the SWC, according to El-Sudi, sat on April 20, 2023 and ratified the action of Takum APC, with slight modification in line with 21.5 (h), (ii) by suspending him from the party.
It stated: “The SWC is, however, recommending to the NEC for his expulsion from the party for the plethora of offences he is found guilty of.”
Kente’s expulsion, which was contained in the statement by El-Sudi, indicted Kente, who was member of North East Development Commission (NEDC) and former chairman, Board of Trustees of the North East Development Education Empowerment Fund, of anti-party activities.
El-Sudi said: “For avoidance of doubt, Chief David Kente stands expelled from the APC and should stop parading himself as a member of the party.”
The senator-elect had debunked all the allegations against him by the party from his ward and local council.
