Ude has been missing since last Saturday. His Toyota hilux van, which he left with on the day of his kidnap, has also been recovered.

A family source stated that the mangled body of the onetime state Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was discovered by passers-by, who alerted security agencies that recovered it and alerted the family.

Although the police had not made any official statement as at press time, it was gathered that fears about his possible kidnap were raised last Saturday when he could not pick calls made to his mobile phone.

The source further stated that his mobile phone was later found by the Ogui Road Police Station, confirming fears that he could have run into trouble.

His wife, who had tried the mobile number several times, was later informed that the phone was found.

She was said to have reported at the station where she narrated she had been trying to reach her husband without success.

The source, however, said nobody was sure if he had been kidnapped, adding that they suspected his kidnap “because his whereabouts was not known.”

Ude had returned to the PDP after his botched governorship ambition at APGA. He had also worked for the party at the elections.

The Spokesman of the state Police Command, DSP Daniel Ndukwe, could not pick calls made to his mobile phone as at press time.
