Minister of Water Resources, Suleiman Adamu, has flayed governors for allegedly failing to re-enact good policies of the Federal Government at the grassroots.
To redress the anomaly, Adamu canvassed more collaboration between the federal and subnational governments for benefit of rural dwellers.
“There must be political support from the states and local governments.” He said if this happens, community members would appreciate government’s efforts at making life meaningful for them and would effortlessly protect government’s infrastructure sited in numerous communities.
Adamu spoke during a valedictory forum he organised for correspondents covering the ministry’s programmes and activities. He restated that government was aggressively pursuing passage of the Water Resources Bill on account of its numerous benefits.
The minister, while noting that 96 per cent of the bill already exists and states are privileged to draw from the Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) fund, said all hope is not lost about passage of the bill.
In another development, Director, Press and Public Relations Unit of the Federal Ministry of Water Resources, Mrs. Kenechukwu Offie, will on May 14, exit public service after 35 years of contributing to national development.
