Oyo state police command

The Oyo State Police Command has arrested three suspected armed robbers and recovered a locally made firearm with ammunition in a renewed crackdown on violent crime across the state.

The suspects, identified as Tomiwa Ayomide, 28, Haruna Kabiru, 32, and Haruna Hassan, also known as “Malo,” 32, were arrested during a coordinated raid carried out by operatives of the Command Monitoring Unit at a suspected criminal hideout in the Sabo-Mokola area of Ibadan.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, in a statement issued on Monday by the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Olayinka Ayanlade, the operation followed credible intelligence on the activities of suspected armed robbers operating from the apartment.

He said a thorough search of the premises led to the recovery of one single-barrel locally made cut-to-size gun and seven live cartridges.

The police spokesman disclosed that the suspects are currently in custody while investigations continue to ascertain their involvement in other criminal activities and to identify and arrest other members of the gang still at large.

The Command emphasised its commitment to protecting lives and property across Oyo State, stressing that efforts to dismantle criminal networks would be sustained.

It also urged residents to continue supporting the police with timely and credible information that would enhance ongoing operations against crime and other security threats in the state.
