• Lists activities for Governor’s inauguration

Lagos State government, yesterday, revealed that the Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration has completed 970 roads in the last four years, promising that the administration would better its performance and meet the residents’ yearnings.

The Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, stated this during a press briefing to announce activities lined up for the inauguration of the governor’s second term, starting May 21 and ending June 4, 2023.

According to the commissioner, 34 of the roads were executed in Kosofe, Somolu, Victoria Island and Ikoyi, along with 15 bridges.

Omotoso added that in Ojokoro, 31 roads were completed, just as 18,000 teachers were trained under the EKOEXCEL programme.

“We completed 18 housing projects. This administration also prioritised technology, entertainment and arts, and the preservation of our historical and cultural heritage. The Sanwo-Olu-Hamzat administration changed the face of governance in Lagos State and Nigeria as a whole.”

The commissioner said there would be Youth Carnival and Robotic competition tomorrow, which would hold simultaneously in all the five divisions of Lagos at 10am: Ikeja Division: JJT Park, Alausa; Badagry Division: Badagry Grammar School, Badagry; Ikorodu Division: Ikorodu Town Hall Premises; Lagos Island: Muri-Okunola Park, VI and Epe Division: The Recreation Centre, Epe.

He listed other activities to include a public lecture to be delivered by Prof. Adigun Agbaje, former Deputy Vice Chancellor of the University of Ibadan. The topic is: ‘The making of a beacon- Lagos and the consolidation of a democracy that works for all’.According to him, there would also be book launch and photo exhibition, stage drama performance at MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos, just as there would be project commissioning in different parts of the state on days three, four and five of the ceremony.

Omotoso said children would not be left out too, as Children’s Day event would hold at the Police College, Ikeja, while a novelty match is expected to hold in Lagos five divisions.
