Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, has assured residents that all the achievements that earned him second term were mere tips of the iceberg. He said the next four years would place the state above any northern state and rank evenly with Lagos and Rivers states.
Yahaya, who spoke, yesterday, during his second term swearing-in at Gombe Township Stadium, said his new tenure would be guided by five cardinal points. He listed them to include economic empowerment and job creation, education and human capital development, healthcare infrastructure, infrastructural development and good governance and accountability.
The governor, however, sought continued support from residents with a call for robust and constructive criticism. “I need your support and active engagement to perform. I am confident that with your continued support, we shall achieve beyond limit.“I cannot do it alone, let’s embark on this journey together hand-in-hand to deliver a better state that our children will be proud of,” he pleaded.
Meanwhile, his former Commissioner for Water Resources, Mijinyawa Yahaya, commended the governor for what he described as “unprecedented governance in Gombe State.”
His Works and Finance counterparts, Abubakar Bappah and Gambo Magaji, said no better government had ever been recorded in the state. Ibrahim Jalo Waziri of the Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs encouraged Yahaya to continue his “government with human face,” in his second term.
