The leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC), has accused the ruling New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) of returning Kano to dark age where hoodlums freely invade public property.
Addressing journalists on Tuesday, APC state deputy chairman, Shehu Maigari, condemned the continued demolition of private property by the NNPP government describing it as barbaric and regrettable.
The APC leadership maintained that the act of destroying property legally procured by individuals has invariably brought about the undue advantage of recklessness, rampant vandalism and daylight stealing of valuables by youths.
The APC deputy chairman charged concerned individuals to maintain calmness and rather explore all legal means to protect their properties, saying the party is ready to join the concerned individuals in the legal battle.
Responding to the allegation of outright sales of public property levelled against the former Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the APC deputy chairman who did not denied Ganduje’s action however accused previous governors including Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso of selling public properties to cronies.
” The barbaric and wanton destruction of the people’s means of livelihood by the state government called for serious prayers by all well-meaning persons as the people are now counting their losses in billions of naira.
” This has now paralyzed and brought the commercial activities in the famous Kantin-Kwari, and Kofar Wambai markets among others to a standstill. Now, the action of the government has brought necessary chaos, rampant vandalism, daylight stealing and grabbing of innocent people’s properties by the youths. APC is condemning this barbaric behaviour in totality.
Maigari added that “We are calling on parents and guardians to caution their children on the danger and implications and desist from being used as agents of destruction by the NNPP-led administration. We also call on the security agencies in the state to step up actions that will restore the people’s confidence in the light of shock and calamity that befall the state”. Maigari appealed.
