We are not just a product of our decisions, the outcome of our lives is much more a direct result of our will. The will of a man is stronger than any external force, and this fact was well played out in the life and journey of Jimmy Ofuoyan, CEO of 360Kuts, also known as Khalilimages, an Italy-based international haircut salon and digital content platform, with the latter used as a strategy to promote videos of celebrity haircuts, Vlogs, as well as visual materials on lifestyle.
Jimmy Ofuoyan established the two international brands which are now gaining popularity in Nigeria and across the world, from an ambition he nurtured as a kid and preserved by absolute determination in the face of apparent uncertainties about tomorrow.
The 24-year-old was born into an average Nigerian family which, like many others, had to struggle for survival. Jimmy Ofuoyan is the youngest of three boys and also has four sisters. For him, the fight to become anything in life began quite early and by age 12, he practically became an adult. He took up apprenticeship on hairstyling for women under his older brother. After horning his skill, he was issued a certificate of independence in 2014.
However, Jimmy Ofuoyan realised he would need to achieve his dream. Before the end of his learning period at his brother’s unisex salon, he acquired knowledge on his own on men’s haircut through YouTube videos.
In the quest to become Independent, the internationally-acclaimed boss of 360Kuts, also known as Khalilimages travelled to Libya enroute Italy in 2016. It was in the North African country he fell into the hands of human trafficking syndicate, who threw him into a prison camp. There, he further horned his skill by becoming the unofficial haircut specialist for the prison guards and other trafficked victims for the 18 months he spent in captivity.
Naturally, it should have been a dangerous dent to his dream, but
Jimmy Ofuoyan rather saw it as a bend on his sojourn to fulfilling destiny. After he escaped from prison, he escaped to Italy, daring the obvious that he could lose his life on the risky journey to the Eiuropean nation. With his dream kept alive, everything worked together for him.
It was in the European country, a place far from home, Jimmy Ofuoyan found fulfillment to all he had always wanted to become. Speaking in a media session, he strangely credited his experience in the prison camp as a turning point in his life.
“One of the pivotal moments in my career was when I relocated to Libya and found myself in a prison camp. It was during that difficult time that I realized the power of my hairstyling skills. I started providing haircuts to the captives and even the traffickers themselves, using just a razor blade and a comb. That experience not only improved my skills but also ignited a fire within me to pursue my passion even amidst adversity,” he said.
The 360Kuts founder is crowned as the best in the trade in Pescara and Milan ateas. He won the ‘Blurriest/ Fastest Fade Technique Barber Battle’ against other good hairstylists and barbers in his community & barbershop where he worked for several years in Italy, owing to his amazing skills and unmatched expertise.
