The First Lady stated this in her office, on Monday, when she received a report of an incident in Ohaukwu Council concerning a widow who was battered by three young men.
She directed the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Felicia Nwakpuma, to visit the council where the incident occurred for confirmation and ensure it was properly handled.
The Commissioner, in the company of Ohaukwu Council Chairman, Ikechukwu Odono, visited the area and confirmed that the widow has been hospitalised. She also reported that the young men have been arrested and investigation is ongoing.
It was also discovered that the widow was beaten because her goat ate cassava stems belonging to the young men.
Nwakpuma appreciated Odono for his effort on the matter and explained that the governor’s wife is determined to ensure the woman gets justice, as her office will not tolerate any form of abuse on Ebonyi women.
The Commissioner also stated that the First Lady directed her office to initiate a sensitisation programme and create awareness to stop injustice against women in the state. She appealed that Ebonyians should always report any form of violence to the appropriate quarters.
The First Lady also sent some items to the widow, who appreciated her for coming to her aid.
