
The Association of Corporate Governance Professionals of Nigeria (ACGPN) has called on Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to ensure their businesses are built on corporate governance to enhance sustainability.
The association’s Register, Dr Olufemi Mosaku-Johnson, said the absence of corporate governance would lead to a loss of shareholders’ trust and confidence, as well as difficulty in raising capital to run their businesses successfully.
He said during the inauguration of board members of a firm in the food and beverage sector, Goldbridge Food Limited.
According to him, the role of corporate governance is to facilitate effective, entrepreneurial, innovative and prudent management that can deliver the long-term success of an organisation.
The inauguration witnessed six members on the board level, with Mosaku-Johnson as the chairman, while members include, Akinkunmi John, Dr Chinwe Abama, Dr Tunde Odeyemi, Jane Akinkunmi-John and Dr Valentine Amieyeofori.
Speaking on behalf of members, Managing Director of Goldbridge Foods Limited, Akinkunmi John, said that the board would play an advisory role in ensuring the firm meets its goal.
He emphasised the firm’s commitment to keeping products in their natural state by aligning with general processing practices and reducing chemical additions to products.
