Prayer brings down the power of God, relieves pain, restores health and healing to our sick bodies. Someone observed that God has limited Himself to the prayers of His people. When you are sick in your body and you pray in faith, God will hear you from heaven and heal you. Epaphroditus, the man who had carried a monetary gift from the Philippian church to Paul while he was imprison in Rome (Phil. 4:18), fell seriously ill but God had mercy on him and healed him (Philippians 2:27).
People fall sick for many reasons. When you violate health rules, you may become sick. When you are stressed, your health can break down. Sometimes sicknesses can be caused by sin but not in all cases. Sin can bring trouble to our lives. Look inwardly anytime you are faced with circumstances to know whether you have wronged God and erred, ask God to forgive you. If after the search and you know there is no sin in your life, you can launch an attack against the devil.
It is God’s perfect will to heal us when we are sick. Healing is an integral part of God’s nature. The Bible said in James Chapter 5, that when you are sick that you should call upon the name of the Lord and the prayer of faith shall heal you. It is the will of God that you enjoy good health even as thy soul also prospers (3 John 1:2). In Exodus 15:26, God introduces Himself as the Lord that heals. No matter the ailment, He will heal you and make you whole. His name is Jehovah Rapha. “Rapha” in Hebrew means to cure, heal, repair, mend and restore health. He is the Lord our Physician, our Doctor. In Luke 6:17-19, a multitude of people sought to touch Jesus so that they will be healed of their diseases and power came out from Him and healed them all.
Among the gifts God gave to the church was the gifts of healing. In 1 Corinthians 12:28, the gifts of healing was mentioned in the plural form because there are sicknesses. Where medical doctors stop, God starts from there; He goes beyond what the medical experts know and were taught in the school.
