National Secretary of New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Mr. Oladipupo Olayokun, has been suspended by the party at ward level. Olayokun was unanimously suspended by ward executives over alleged involvement in anti-party activities and dereliction of duty.
NNPP, in a letter signed by Mr. Segun Adesegun, the chairman of Ward 5, Abeokuta South, Ogun State, alongside all ward executives, accused Olayokun of total neglect of NNPP at the ward level, never participating in party activities, and refusal to vote for neither the gubernatorial candidate nor presidential candidate of NNPP in the last general election.
The letter was addressed to Olayokun, with copies to the party’s presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso, and founder of the party, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam.
The party also alleged that Olayokun was the mastermind of the crisis in Ogun NNPP chapter.
The letter reads in part: “What is the value of a so-called National Secretary who didn’t participate in a major national election? Mr. Oladipupo Olayokun added no value to the NNPP as a party in Ogun State.
“In the same vein, NNPP Ward 5 executives and members discovered that Mr. Oladipupo Olayokun was the brain behind the crisis of NNPP in Ogun State.
“Recognising the fact that Mr. Oladipupo Olayokun committed various offences in contravention of Article 39.2, sub-section 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 11 of NNPP 2022 Constitution as amended, he is hereby suspended as a member of this party at the ward level from today, August 6, 2023.
“Consequently, he should stop parading himself as National Secretary of the party, henceforth.”
