NIM seeks partnership with CAC on capacity building

The Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) (Chartered) has called for collaboration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) to develop training and capacity-building programmes.

The institute said the pact is aimed at enhancing the management skills and knowledge of entrepreneurs, business owners and professionals registered with the Commission.

President and Chairman of Council, NIM, Dr Christiana Atako, said this during a courtesy visit by the institute to the headquarters of the CAC, in Abuja.

She said such joint human capital development efforts could be focused on the current business environment in Nigeria, including challenges faced by businesses and potential areas to support organisational development, entrepreneurship and business growth.

She noted that over the years, the institute had been engaged in public advocacy, with a special focus on proposing and supporting policies that promote good governance, ethical practices, and professionalism in management.

She stressed that the institute would want to join forces with the Commission to make the effort more robust and forceful.

According to her, the two organisations could explore ways to share relevant industry research, data and insights to support evidence-based decision-making and policy formulation.

Responding, the Registrar-General/Chief Executive Officer, CAC, Garba Abubakar, pledged to consider some of the requests, saying he had a preference for scheduled training rather than in-plants.

He lamented the paucity of funds that plagues the Commission, occasioned by the automated processes that they now operate and the government’s policy on ease of doing business.
